Dear Em-a-lem-a-ding-dong,
You're getting more fun everyday, if you can believe it! You have this million-dollar smile that makes any dark day instantly better! I can't believe you are already four months old. You hold that big 'ol head up all on your own, and your lastest trick, which I just noticed yesterday, is that when you're sitting in your swing you try to sit up!! C'mon, you've got to stay a baby for a little while! While I type this you are in your co-sleep fast asleep and you still sleep with your arms up above your head--I give up, style--like you were in my ultrasound. It's getting cold and I love to bundle you up. Tonight you're wearing a tee-shirt onsie, a gerber sleep and play, and a cuddly warm fleece sleeper...I hope you're warm enough! This morning you were such a happy girl, you even let your mommy and daddy take smiling naked bum pictures of you...and do you know what daddy said as he was putting the huge flash together--I DOUBT we'll be doing this for baby number 2. So you've got to be a good girl when baby number 2 comes along and let that baby bask in the glow like you got to, ok?

Could you be more perfect??
You're discovering your hands. You like to stare at them cross eyed. You love to grab toys now, especially your giraffe blanket. You grab him by the ears, stare at him crossed eyed, and tell him the funniest spit-bubbled stories I ever heard. You also have discovered the wonders of holding hands...if I go to put your soothie back in you whip your hands up to mine and grab on--favorite pasttime? Trying to see how far apart we can get mom's thumb and pinky!

Say, "Happy Fall, Everyone!"
We went to school today for the first time and you were not phased at all by all the kids that were happy to meet you. I miss them, but it is so worth it staying home with you. I think you must remember what it was like to be with that noisy bunch, because you didn't even flinch, you just stared and stared as each little face remarked on how cute you are--seriously, kid, if you don't have the world's biggest ego by now I don't know who does, because EVERYONE exclaims your cuteness constantly...I'm going to have to work on deflating that ego a bit when you're old enough to realize what they are saying...as for now I don't mind just watching you melt them with your smile. We also went to the grocery store today...you love to look at all the bright colors on the shelf. You're not like the other babies we go by in the aisles, they're all asleep, but you just stare facinated by the food...

I wonder if you are going to be an Olympic swimmer...I swear you light up every night when you hear the water running for your bath. You can be in the middle of cryfest 2006 and you hear that water start and you're all smiles. I'm still waiting for the big belly laugh, though. You smile and you coo, but you don't really giggle just yet...you'll let out a HA, or sometimes a HA ha...but most of the time when you're really happy you get a face-breaking grin on and make a huge noise while sucking in air--and then you cough. Speaking of coughing...I think you've discovered that when you cough it gets my attention...and when you whine. Because lately you'll do one of the afore mentioned things and then when I look over at you you smile up at me!! What a little booger! You've also figured out that when you are in the exersaucer that if you push the animals four times you get a song to play...and when the song plays Mommy sings and dances along...and you think it's funny...so I do it everytime. If I have to dance to Old MacDonald one more time...but seriously, you smile and wait for it, so how could I hold back?
She still has the hair in the back, it's just hiding!
You still love your swing, in fact you take all of your daytime naps there...we're going to have to work on the crib thing, young lady...I picture you a two year old, legs dragging on the floor, still needing to nap in your swing...let's hope that doesn't happen! You've moved on to cruisers...no more baby diapers for you--you're in the big threes now and I can't believe it! I've packed away a whole bin of clothes that no longer fit you and when I put the lid on it's like I'm saying goodbye to my newborn...and by the way, how come you don't like to cuddle as much, Ms. Independent? I hold you close to me and often you push back as if to say, "Don't hold me down, Mom, I might miss something important...." or I pull you to my chest thinking you're tired and need a nap and you resist and pick that strong little body up off of me and continue to look around--everyone says I was an independent child, maybe you take after me in that respect...and you're definitely keeping my eyes, there is no question about that. You've got quite the bald spot in the back of your head...people wonder where you got it...I guess they haven't read all of the literature on "Back-to-sleep" because you rub your poor little head on the sheets all night and poof, it's like I shaved a perfect little circle back there!

Mmmm...fingers!
Bedtime is getting easier and easier...you love to grab onto the pages now, and you turn your head when you're ready to eat and drift off to sleep...I love that time of day, when it is you and me, and I get to cuddle you as you fall asleep. I want to add music into the routine, but you're already so tired as it is that maybe we'll have to add it to our day. You love listening to almost anything, and the funny part is that you like watching the visualizations on windows media player...you stare and stare and we can't get you to look anywhere else until we close the window!!

Well, my little chicken, I don't remember life without you...I can't wait for Halloween with you this year, and all the years to come! If you're this much fun at 4 months I can't wait to see what you're like at 4 years!
I love you more than I have words to say, so remember my hugs and kisses!!!
Love,
Your Mommy
