Dear Emmie,

Time is just flying by, I can't believe you are 7 months old already! You're sitting up like a pro and you love to do the "bounce" where you just bounce-bounce-bounce while sitting. You never did learn to roll, but much prefer the seated view of life! You're still my smiley baby and I couldn't be happier! It is fun now that you want to play with toys and you got some good ones for Christmas! A Drop and Roar Dino from you daddy and I, a nice set of stacking toys and some great books and even your own camera! You're growing like a weed and already fit into your 9 month clothing...you're 27.5 inches tall and love to show it off by standing on my lap!

You love to be naked and I being in the bath is still your all time favorite--although thankfully you have graduated from kicky legs when you were laying down to splashy arms which do WAY less damage to my clothing as I am trying to soap you up!

You're a champion food taster, and I've learned my lesson...if at first she makes a face, try try again! I thought you were never going to like carrots, sweet potatoes or squash. You'd make me laugh every time I tried to sneak it in your face because you would gag, choke and go BLAAAHHH with the food hanging off your tongue like I was feeding you rat poison or something!

You like to eat your toes, but every time I whip out the camera to get a picture of you doing it you have to drop everything and smile at me...soooooo...as you can see in the above picture I just mushed them up into your face so we could get the effect! You're oh so strong and oh so opinionated but I find myself loving your opinion! Lately you think it is the funniest thing when I take little nibbles out of your chunky little body...I find it funny as well and we laugh until we are both ready to cry and then we call it quits. You have also taken a liking to taking bites out of me--you grab me by the ears or the hair or the cheeks (still haven't lived down the pinchy nickname) and pull me in close to either give kisses, hugs, or just plain nibble on my nose...I end up wet and slobbered on, but it is worth it!

You love love love your sippy cup. You talk to it...Ba ba Baaa BBBAAAA ba AAA BA...as you stick it in your mouth. You bang BAng BANG it on your high chair tray...you THROW, DROP, TOSS it on the floor and then watch it as it lays on the ground until I bring it to you again.

You battled your first bad illness...CROUP and you handled it like I trooper, I on the other hands cried my eyes out with worry...I thought YOU were the baby, guess I was mistaken! Then you had a bad bad sore throat but you smiled through the pain after crying all night and you were better in no time! We have your first big flight coming up next month all the way to California...and then the week after your third wedding you get to attend in New Jersey! We're busy, you and me, but it is worth it! We're learning things and experiencing things and I am always amazed at how much you work at making others around you happy and smiley. We went to visit your great grandma and you were a light in the room that was otherwise dark...even though she is too weak to open her eyes and see you I know she heard your little voice and because of it she was happy.

I think you're going to be crawling soon...right now you're getting into everything. You want whatever I have...the phone, my grocery list, the TV remote...you name it you want it. I can play all day and night with YOUR toys, but you still want what you shouldn't have and -- yes I'm terrible -- you have the paper cut on your left index finger to prove it! You started signing milk not too long ago and you use it for many things...like when you want me to pick you up, when you are excited...AND of course when you want to nurse. It is funny in the night when I am putting you to bed you'll sometimes start signing milk on the book we are reading and I know you are ready to sleep and too tired to read...or when we are all snuggled in bed and you nurse milk right on my chest...smart thing...and when I push your hand away and say we are sleeping sometimes you even reach up as if to say, no, mom, I need it and sign milk right on my lips!

I can't believe just seven short months ago you were a newborn baby girl...you were my squirmy little pink lump...now you are my big girl fill of personality and I am excited to be on this ride with you! So...here's to next month! Will you be crawling? Pulling up? Babbling even more? Will I see the first tooth? Whatever the case may be I'm ready...!

I love you chicken!
Love,
Mommy
