Hi Baby Girl!
I'm a week late in writing this, and that is a scary thing because you are learning so much everyday that it amazes me. Should I start recent and rewind or start at the beginning and fast forward? Either way it is all a blur, so here goes.

You're getting more hair!

And more style....
When I last wrote you were 7 months and playing with things and babbling...this month you accomplished the first "word" which, thank you very much, was Dada...what I'm I, chopped liver? Ok, ok, it is too cute to be mad at you. You have no idea what you are saying, but you like to say it in the morning and slap your daddy in the head, so it is very effective.

Can an 8 month old fake smile??
You've graduated to some chunkier table foods. Broccoli bits, cut up grapes, blueberries which you weren't too fond of, some biter biscuits and toast even though we're still awaiting your first tooth...you even took a lick of my pickle today!

Let me at those O's mom!

First time in a bathing suit!
The trip to California went very very well, although I don't think you were too sure about switching time zones, so you didn't. Which means we were up very early with you--4am their time--and no where to eat breakfast. Consequently you were going to bed very early...4pm their time. BUT, you did get to take your first swim in a pool and you got to see the Pacific Ocean and you charmed everyone on the plane, at the hotel, at the wedding, and overall you were a trooper....even when you got a cold and woke up with that barky cough again all I had to do was show you the baby in the mirror and all was funny in the world again. When you're sick, my sweet baby girl, all you want to do is sleep on my chest which melts my heart, but makes me tired! That's ok, you're only little once and I'll take it as it comes, because sickness passes and if being close to me helps you sleep and get better than I am all for it!

You were sick here...do you believe it?
You're in love with Rachel, Alex and Leah on Signing Times and you squeel with delight when the song comes on. Speaking of being in love with people, you love other kids, especially your cousin Nicholas. All he has to do is come close to you and you laugh and giggle out loud, which, my little friend, you don't do for just anyone. I'm still trying to get that big laugh out of you. Biting you works, on your ribs and under your arms, but for the most part you just smile...those are free...just yesterday, though, you started to do little , ha, ha, giggles and it is too cute!

You still like that soothie...it helps you sleep, so we're friends!
We're moving real soon, so it is probably a good thing that we've taken you every where. I'm not too nervous about your transition, but I think it might be time for your own room...you love to be close to us, but I think daddy's snoring might keep you up in the middle of the night, we'll see. It is fine with me if you want to stay in our room and in our bed, but since you can't talk we have to do a little guess and check work to see where you sleep best! Just last night you slept like a rock from 9pm until 6am...but you were tired from our long drive down to New Jersey (usually 4 hours but it took us 8....ergh, another story) and then the next day my cousin Ryan's wedding! You did very well being passed around by the aunties, and just snuggled up and passed out when we got back to the hotel room. I am so proud of you, my beautiful baby girl, you are so smart. Keep on smiling, little Emmie, you make this world so much brighter!

Mmmmmm...tags!
Love,
Mommy
