Chase 2 months
__________________________________________________________

Dear Chase-aroni,

You are currently asleep on my chest which is making writing this letter a little bit impossible, but I'll deal. Yesterday you turned two months old and I'm still not so sure I know what you are going to be like...because...well...you cry...a lot. But, in the last few days, you have had some nice awake time where you actually aren't screaming and you've made some noises that weren't grumpy...and you even managed to squeak a few smiles in there...so the real Chase is starting to shine through the colicy phase.

You still have some pretty good crying spells...or at least spells where we are actively trying for hours on end to keep you from crying (BTW, you're laughing in your sleep right now) and they are exhausting--you like us to hold one hand under your bum and the other under your neck and balance you out in front of us while bouncing up and down....I'm getting ripped in the bicep department, but my back is starting to take a beating.

We've spent loads of money on contraptions that bounce....we bought you an Amby bed and a couple of bouncy chairs that you could care less about...we've gone through a million sets of D-cell betteriest for your papsan swing (I swear, I don't know what i would do without this swing....your sister loved it too!!) and a couple different carriers because you hate fabric on the back of your head now and can't stand to froggie your legs. You, my dear dear son, have an opionon and you let the world know.

You are starting to like your playmats and you love it when your sister talks to you. You don't cry when she hits you or scratch/tickles you on the head with her nails. You just look up at her in amazement. You still love the bath and the sound of running water but it is hard to get the time to give you a bath because as soon as Emmie hears running water she wants in.

You're starting to sleep a little bit longer at night and I know that will come with time...nursing laying down is getting better which makes me feel like I am getting some rest at night. You weighed in at yesterday's appointment at a whopping 9lbs. 2oz. and measured 22 inches long...that is 4 inches and 4.5lbs in only two short months...way to go!! You love love love to be swaddled tight and still hate the bottle...I don't know what I'm going to do with you in less than two weeks when I'll be away at weddings the whole day....I guess I'll just have to pray that you're not too stubborn and feed you that whole night...

Your daddy is a pro with you and changes most of you diapers when he is home, has perfected the swaddle, and after your 11pm feeding he takes you from me and rocks/bounces you to sleep. He also takes you at 5am and either you two hang out because you want to be awake or I find you two passes on on the couch together...and I get some much needed sleep before your sister wakes up. You are growing and changing everyday and the other day I told your daddy he was going to have to leave me at home when he drives you two to college someday because I can't even stand to be away from you and your sister for an hour nevermind a semester...you are still sleeping on me and you smell so good I want to bottle it up and send it around to everyone. I can't wait to see more of your personality as this colic slowly fades into a thing of the past...you are such a sweet sweet boy when you are not purple faced and screaming!

Love always,

Mommy
