Dear Emmie 27 months!

________________________________________

Dear dear dear Emmie,

Mommy and Daddy are super busy this month, I'm sorry I'm late again on your letter but I guess in the future you are going to learn that the summer (which seems like it should be slower for everyone else who doesn't have to rush to school and activities) is in fact head-spinngly busy for Mommy and Daddy! At the begining of this wedding season you would cry when we left and apparently mourn the fact that we were gone off and on all day...I think perhaps your only frame of reference was when I went to have baby Chase in the hospital and dissapeared for 5 days. Now just a few months later you'll sometimes ask me not to go to wedding, Mommy...but more often than not you'll just say, "See you later, Mom!"

You love a good birthday party and insisted on helping Grammie Doris with

her candles...she's 91!

From Emmie 27 months

This Sunday we leave for our cruise and you are so very excited! You tell everyone who will listen, "We're going on a BIG airplane to Miammi and then on a HUGE cruise ship where you can swim and make sand castles on islands!" You also dicovered the wonders of nail polish when Auntie Emily and Becky painted your fingers and toes pink...we just re-painted them for the cruise and you love it! Everyone keeps looking at Mommy and Daddy like we're crazy for taking such little babies on a cruise, but I'm not sure they know how easy you are! You may prove them right, but I have visions of fun afternoons at the pool and early nights crashed in bed catching up on our sleep! Your brother, on the other hand, might give us a run for our money!

Speaking of your brother, you are more and more interested in him everyday. You have found out that he thinks your pretty funny and talk to him in this high sqeaky voice. You're amazed that he smiles at you and giggles and you like to do "nose-to-nose" with him during tummy time. You will play peek-a-boo with him for hours while he is in his high chair and the two of you never tire of the same old game. You still love to take baths with him but get rather annoyed when you get kicked in the ribs. You came with us to the doctors and begged for me to keep his PJ's on and "not let them doctor him" which I think is just your way of protecting him.

You also got your new big girl bed this month...and you love it! You have kitty sheets and you got to pick out your own comforter. You were a little bit perplexed when we were taking your cribby apart and kept telling daddy not to break it....but as soon as you got your sheets on and climbed into bed for the first time you never mentioned your cribbey being gone and didn't blink when we put it in Chase's room a few weeks later. We lie down in bed at night and read books and then snuggle for a few minutes listening to your quiet CD until you fall asleep...when you wake up in the night now you don't cry but instead you come into our room...for a little while I was playing musical beds bouncing from your room to our to feed Chase but for the last two weeks it seems like you're back to sleeping through the night and only wander into our room after 7am...and you also come find me after your nap and say things like, "I climbed out of my bed and found you, are you proud of me?" Too cute!

We also finished the basement this month with new carpet and furniture from a trip to Ikea which you say is, "HUGE IKEA," and you love it down here. You have all of your toys and I can get some work done and play with you throughout the day. The first day that the carpet was down here you were spining and running and jumping in the open room..then you lay flat on your back and said, "Mommy, make carpet angels with me!!" and proceeded to flap your arms and legs. I'm so excited to hear all that you have to say about the plane trip and the week on the boat! I'm sure we'll have lots of pictures of your when we get back from that!

Love you from here to the moon and back!

Mommy
