Dear Racey-Roo,
Late again...that's your mama's modus operandi (loosly translated by wikipedia to mean my method of operating...) I guess I'm not too sorry that it is so late because it means we are busy living and loving every minute of life...or, well, not every minute but a lot of the minutes!! This past month you survived your first long weekend without Mommy and Daddy while we were shooting a wedding in Colorado and you stayed with Momo and the aunties and you loved every minute of it...or so I hear. We tried to video chat with you once but you were busy running around being a nut...and I'm told when we signed off and said goodbye you threw your head into the couch cushions and wailed that we were gone...guess you don't appreciate what you have until it vanishes, huh? So yes, you survived and the hug daddy and I got when we got home was worth its weight in gold. You're such a sweet sweet little loving boy and I wish I could bottle up all of that sweetness now and give you a couple of doses of it when you're a teenage boy who doesn't want anything to do with being sweet.
You are still loving the language thing...and while we are still struggling to understand some things a lot of things are now coming through loud and clear. You'll piece a whole story together with just a few words letting me fill in the gaps...you'll say something like, "Dadda, Elmo, Chase, poop, Mama, hand..." which I translate to mean...Daddy changed your diaper (that has Elmo on it) this morning when you pooped and mama held your hand...and you get so excited and nod enthusiastically that I got it right!! You love to talk about cake and for a while whenever we would ask you to tell us a secret you would come real close to our ears and whisper..."cake"....this weekend you've been talking a lot about a lawn cake which means you would like a lawn mower cake for your next birthday...you've got 11 months to wait...but I can try a lawn mower cake next year if you're still interested! You love ice cream, too, and will often point to the freezer and sign ice cream and cry and wail when I won't feed it to you for breakfast...although oatmeal isn't too much of a concession because you still love the stuff.
You love love love all things with wheel...tractors, motocycles (lolos), trucks, cars, trikes, bikes, lawn mowers, wagons. If it has wheels it is exciting. You surprise me with your knowledge of cars...you know that my car is a Prius and you don't just identify that it is white, you'll see other colors and know that it is, "Mama's car," and the same goes for daddy's VW...you know the VW aspect and don't always tie it to the color. So perceptive, little boy! You don't like waiting at red lights and will chant, "GREEN, GREEN, GREEN," while we're stopped hoping we can, "GO GO GO," soon. You love it when we're behind a big farm truck, or a dump truck, or a motorcycle and will often cry when I won't go the same way it is going...but you're easily distracted if I ask you if you want to look for another (loader, dumper, digger, motorcycle) and say, "Oh, laa! (yeah)" You love to go into preschool with Emmie and play with their buses and trucks and cry most mornings when I let you know that you can't stay...and then in the afternoon you like to gas up their cozy coupe and go for a spin and break down when I tell you it is time to go home for lunch. You are stubborn, and opinionated, and oh so cute. You're good at asking for a turn from someone who is playing with what you want with a cute little, "Done? Done?"
You don't really like having your picture taken and will rarely look at me when I have the camera. You get mad. You tell me, "NO, MAMA," and you say, "GO, MAMA." Meaning leave me the heck alone...so sad. I know it's a phase and someday you'll be posing like a maniac, but for now I get a lot of you looking away and the top of your head. Oh well. You love your new bike although you're not too speedy on it yet and that's ok. You love the movie Cars and want to watch it constantly. You love your crocs that you got from Del. You love raspberries (the fruit and getting mommy to do them on your belly and back). You love your matchbox cars and the blue track to race them on. You love saying, "Hi," on the phone. You love you sister and will do most things as long as she suggest them.
You went in this month for an MRI and you were so brave and so so good. They still want to know why you're little...and they seem bound and determined to get to the bottom of it. Lately we've found out that you don't make too much growth hormone so they were wondering if your pituitary glad was abnormal...it's not...so the mystery continues. Thank goodness you're patient with them and really love people. You are happy to announce that you are Chase to anyone that wants to talk to you, medical staff included. You always win their hearts and rarely cry...giving them your hand for an O2 sensor and sweetly asking, "boo boo?" You just amaze me with all that you put up with and all that you handle with ease. If you bonk your head or fall down you just want a quick kiss and you're off again to explore the world.
I love you little man, it is so fun to hear all that you have to say and see all that you want to do!
Can't wait to see what this next month brings!
Love,
Mommy
P.S. I almost forgot...you said, "I love you," which sounded more like RUV ROO this month...and you said it through walkie talkies to your sister at Grammie's house :) So cute!

yay yay for the garden! It looks awesome. Can't wait to see how it progresses!
Oh - and Noah does the: "where are we going today/who's coming over/what are we doing today?"
questioning every morning too! Everyone in playgroup who has a 3-4 year old says they have the same daily conversation also :)
