Dear Chase-Chase,

You are so cute I want to eat you. Butter your little legs and arms and just gobble you up. You're such a ham...if someone has a camera in the room and you see it (even though they aren't taking a picture of you) you start to bounce, huff, and smile at them dying for attention.

You also have started to dance when you hear music with a big smile on your face. You've added to the mama and dadda (which I think might mean cracker??) with "Hat". You have no idea what you're saying but you love that we can say it to and we often have a big loooong conversation that goes something like this:

Chase: Hat

Mommy: Hat

Chase: Hat

Mommy: Hot

Chase: Hat

Mommy: Hut

Chase: Hat

Emmie also joins into the conversation and signs hat for us and tells you that hats go on your head. You think it is all very funny. You also think it is funny when I nibble your chin or your ribs. You don't exactly giggle (well you do, sometimes) but you more let our a huge squealy roar and then chuckle at the end.

You're forever trying to pull up on EVERYTHING. It makes you pretty mad when you just have to sit in the middle of the floor and can't reach anything to pull up on. Our days of you not being able to crawl are numbered, I'm sure of it. When you're happy or something fun happens you wiggle your little legs around--if you're sitting they just wiggle back and forth, if we're holding you you push off of us in a little happy dance.

You're sick again...this is the third cold in the last three weeks complete this time with a boogery nose, a high fever and a pretty bad cough. You don't really want to be awake, play with toys, or do anything other than snuggle me. I can't put you down or it breaks your little heart and you stick out your bottom lip and cry.

So you've been living in a wrap on my back when you're awake and I think we're both ok with that. It breaks MY heart to see you sick. You get pretty wheezy and I know you just feel bad because you whine and wimper in your sleep and refuse to eat much of anything. I want to put you in a bubble and never take you out...and I know that is silly...but you're so sad.

You're still a night time waker. We often hear from you (after going to bed at 7pm) around 11pm, 3am, and 5am and you get up for the day around 6 or 7 and hang out with daddy until Emmie and I get up. I miss sleeping for long streches at night but I know you're not going to be little forever, this too shall pass...someday.

You still hate food...well, baby food that is. We discovered if you can put it in your own hand and eat it you tend to like it a bit more. So you've been eating a lot of Club crackers and when you see one you do the happy dance and say things like, "mMMmmMmmmmmm, mamam, MmmmMmmMMm." If you don't like the way something tastes or you get a piece of something that is larger than a half of a pea you gag and barf. I'm getting quite good at catching it. It would be much nicer if you could just tell me what you want to eat...it's a lot of guessing. You'll eat oatmeal baby cereal, but not rice. You'll eat sweet potatoes but not carrots, green beans, peas, applesauce, pears...actually any other jarred puree is OUT. But you will eat fresh blueberry halves, little sliced grapes...you love sucking on apples. Again, this won't last forever, we'll get there. Tonight I gave you a bit of baby yogurt...you seemed to like it. Then I tried to give you tylenol because remember, you're sick, and you puked the yogurt and the tylenol because I don't think you like the cherry kind. Oh well!

So that's the story this month my cute little guy with a curly mowhawk! We all love you very much even when you're sick and crabby and don't want us to put you down...it just means the house gets a little messier than usual and we don't get as much work done...but all that will wait!

I'm forever in love with you!

Mommy
