Dear Emerson (30 months!),

Dear Emmie-Bemmie,

Holy cow, little girl, how are you two and a half?? I can't believe it. Really. I can't.

You've been sick in the last two months more than you were in the last two and a half years. You're currently watching "The Wonder Pets Save the Nutcracker" and you are excited because you LOVE ballet. Actually, you're wearing a pink hair clip, a tutu, a ballet shirt, and tights...when you first dressed up you told me you were a ballet-arina--now when I tell the story you correct me and say, "No, Mom, a balarina." I kind of wish ballet-arina had stuck because it is so cute!

My good little eater has gotten too busy to eat. I think part of it might be that we got a new kitchen table and a bench that you sit on...you wiggle and move around (and fall off) and can't seem to sit still long enough to get food in your belly. But I do know that when you're hungry you'll eat...you've always been a good snacker, so you'll survive on snacks. Current favs are clementines, pomegran-nuts, sun flower seeds, baby puffs that you steal from Chase, and apples....OH and a box of princess teddy grahams.

You love to dance and sing. Just yesterday you didn't know the words to "Doe a Deer" on the radio but you so badly wanted to sing along like Mommy so you just decided to sing the ABC's instead...so we had battling tunes. You also love to finger paint and make "crafts" with my (and auntie Rachel). You spend a lot of time at your easle and you did draw something blue that resembled a face...big circle with good little embelishments around where the eyes, nose and mouth should be...I asked you if it was a face and you said, "Yup, it's YOU!"

Ms. Mermaid over there is your best friend!

You are finally growing again....I was getting a little nervous that you were wearing all of last winter's clothes again this winter...and that your 24 month snow suit still fit you. On Monday it was soooooo cold I thought we should wear the snowsuit on our walk to the mailbox (it's pretty far...and usually we take a detour to the swingset for 15 minutes) and you cried about the snowsuit. I got you outside and you were still sad. Too sad to tell me what was the matter. Then you finally said, "This snowsuit is giving me a BUNGEE," and then you cried again. It took me a while to figure out that you have in fact grown out of that snowsuit and don't like WEDGIE'S....don't worry, dear girl, I ordered a new one this week, no more bungee's for you! You also grew out of your coat and a lot of your shirts now expose that little belly of yours....so here we come 3T!!

You still have a half curly half straight mop of hair on your head, but you actually don't mind clips and piggy tails...in fact you don't mind all things girly. Not sure how we're related because I certainly didn't want to wear tights and dresses and things that were pink when I was little...I wanted to get dirty and climb trees...you found a little tin of lip gloss that I think I got two or three Christmasses ago...you almost DIED! "Is this MAKEUP? Mommy, can I WEAR it??" You carried that little tin around and applied lipgloss and make "lipstick" lips at me like a little fish. Where did you learn that? You also like to put things over your shoulder and call it your purse...I don't even have a purse. I just have a big wonkin diaper bag....and you love fancy shoes and snow boots.

Our new routine this month is "flying" to Daddy before bed. You were having a hard time with the transition so we added this little fun game to the night. So around 8:30 I ask if you're ready to fly to daddy and you run to me and away you go. Then you flap your little wings all the way upstairs and into your bed. Before when I used to ask if you were ready for bed we more often than not had a lot of, "No, not yet....pleeeeease."

You're so excited for Christmas. I can't wait to see you this year. You understand gifts and have been making bead necklaces for people which I think it cute....you like patterererns and color coordinating but can't quite manage that part on your own...but you put the beads on the string (gymp) without a problem. We had some that didn't fit on the string so you called those, "BUMMER" beads and would yell BUMMER each time you tried to put one on. Your friends at Monday morning playgroup caught onto that one and we had a room full of toddlers yelling, "BUMMER!"

You love the laundry monster...he is fun to jump in!

Right now we're waiting for your brother to wake up from his nap....you know when he is up it is time to go to Ellie's house for a playdate. You keep running over to me and saying, "I think I hear Chase, did you hear that?" Wishful thinking has begun...

I love you baby doll (even though when I say this now you tell me you're not a baby) and you will always be my baby.

Happy Growing!

Momma (you randomly stopped calling me Mommy this month and instead call me Momma, it's cute)
