Dear Emerson (31 months!),

____________________________________

Dear Princess Emmie,

You are currently wearing four silks, a skirt, three bracelets and your PJ's. You're playing beads on the floor with Daddy and you're calling him honey. Like, let's play beads, honey. It's ok, honey. What beads are you putting on your necklace, honey? Too cute!

This was a fun month...Christmas with a two and a half year old is so exciting. You knew exactly what you wanted...but you were STILL so excited to see that "santa" really brought it! You had fun unwrapping things but still often wanted help from me to get it started and show you where the tabs are. You also were very sweet in helping Chase open his gifts and showing him what was in there and how to use it. You had two pretty adorable Christmas dresses and got to wear both...let me tell you, you LOVE being fancy so that was a highlight of the whole event.

You're super social and tell everyone everything. You love to spend time with your aunties, uncles, grandparents, playgroup buddies...you really just want everyone to play dress up with you and watch you do gymnastics and ballet...or other times you want to run around and play things like red light green light (Uncle Sock taught you that)....and calling Scott Uncle Sock makes you laugh pretty loud...you like nick names. You like Auntie's Squeezie's nickname and Auntie's Skettie (spaghetti). You also have fallen in love with tricks. Sometimes we'll be in the funniest of places and you'll ask me to lie down right on the floor and do tricks...or we'll have clients over and you insist that they will think it is so cool if we do "tricks" for them.

You're definitely two, though...you love to say no, or I don't want to, or if we ask you a question lately like, "How come you did x," and you'll say, "Because I did." Good think you're cute! You've also taken a fond liking to hitting your brother, making him cry, and then telling me that he needs breastfeeding...I insist he just needs less whacks on the head in the first place.

Over all though you love him--love to make him giggle and smile and look for you when you hide. Today while I was doing dishes you played peek-a-boo beind your placemat for a good 25 minutes while I cleaned the whole kitchen. That is a nice treat! And yesterday you two were giggling the whole car ride to gymnastics. Chase often smiles at you and waves when he sees you and gets very giddy if you give him even a little attention...I know you're going to be a great big sister.

Sadly you're starting to skip naps....I will lie with you (like usual) for an hour or more and you just can't fall asleep. The nice thing is that means that you don't stay up very late at all, but it also means that we can't go anywhere in the afternoon for fear of you falling asleep in the car. On the days that you don't nap the afternoons are loooooong and you're pretty miserable about a lot of things...like if I don't give you the right snack or if you fall down and bump something. You still suck your pacifier...I want it to dissapear but I fear that the sleeping will get bad...and I need my sleep...so you can bring it with you to college.

You got a lot of fairy dressup clothes and wings and princess costumes for Christmas and you are constantly wearing them...and you cry when it is nighttime and time to take them off. You still talk about your imaginary friend Thumbalrina and all of the adventures you go on....and now you talk about a mysterious younger mom that you have....she is little but big, has blonde hair, is pretty and is named Kathra with a sister named California...you often tell me she will let you do things that I won't...crazy talk!! Oh, and you LOVE video chatting with your grandma and grandpa and momo...except when momo turns into a lion and then a baby, that's too scary!

I love you, you fancy little nugget,

Mommy
